If you've been following my seed-starting journey this year, you know how much love, light, and patience went into growing my own annual flowers indoors. Now that they are out in their permanent homes, the payoff is officially here!
While everything is settling in beautifully, there are three specific annuals that are completely stealing the show in my containers and planters right now.
1. Petunias (Wave Yellow, Plum Pudding, & Shock Wave Carmine Velour)
This year, I grew three distinct varieties with a specific vision in mind: to create a breathtaking floral display woven with purple, pink, and yellow hues. And let me tell you—these petunias did not disappoint!
The buttery yellows, soft pinks, and deep, velvety carmine tones are putting on an absolute masterclass in color theory. They pair so beautifully with the rich purple and yellow King Henry violas planted amongst them. Every time I take a look at these flowers planted in my backyard, this color combination makes me stop in my tracks.
2. King Henry Violas
This was my very first-time growing King Henry violas for my garden containers, and I have to be honest—at first, they were looking a little sad and underwhelming. But what a difference a few weeks makes!
Lately, they have completely taken off, aggressively spreading and eagerly filling every single bit of empty space in their planters and containers. They provide this intense, vibrant pop of royal purple that I honestly didn’t know my garden needed. If your containers are looking a little sparse, these are the ultimate gap-fillers.

3. Nano Geraniums (Pink Rose & Lavender)
I grew two different varieties of these dwarf beauties, and they are such a vibe. Even before the blooms take over, the foliage itself is a showstopper—big, bold, and beautifully shaped.
But the flowers? Absolutely stunning. The Lavender variety is a dainty, romantic powder-pink, while the Pink Rose variety serves up a striking, electric shade of hot pink. They bring the perfect balance of texture and high-impact color to my smaller planters.
